Boss asks me to drive back and measure how far our wellheads are from the bank of the river.
My response: Um, sure I’ll look, but it’s rained almost nonstop for 10 days.
Boss: Just see what you can do.
Call my boss: Yeah, I don’t think I can get that measurement.
Boss: Why not?
Me: Cause I have no idea where the river stops and the floodwaters start.
I did have to drive out far enough to verify our test wells weren’t flooded and pull a sample. The water level was less than 2” from the bottom of the doorframe at that point.

You’re gonna need a bigger boat.

Now would be a good time to introduce your boss to the Top Gear hovervan idea.

You need more Corvair.

Hmm, maybe if we enlarge the concept we can finally have a use for the Ford F600 boom truck that sits behind the barn.

Or any kinda boat would be good. My last job did have two boats we could use for days like this.
We kept a rowboat at the facility, and if it got really bad they had a motorboat we could borrow from another location.

That’s the spirit. I like the way you think!

Add a machine gun and it’ll be a Corvette. A corvette is a small warship. It is traditionally the smallest class of vessel considered to be a proper (or “rated”) warship. The warship class above the corvette is that of the frigate, while the class below was historically that of the sloop-of-war.

At the very least adding a machine gun would bring a whole new level of fun to work.

I’ve created a highly detailed diagram of how I think the Hoverboom would look.

That must mean my car is a frigate, because every time something goes wrong with it, I just say “frig it.”
